Back in the early part of 1991, Daryl South had a dream and a goal to start a propane company here in Helena Montana. Having had a number of years of experience in the industry working for another propane company he began his venture in April of 1991. The company started out as a small, two man operation with only a hand full of customers. But because of some very dedicated people in the Helena area, the company soon began to grow. The business started out in a small rented building but within the first year, had already outgrown the facility. Again, Daryl had a dream to have his own building and build it to accommodate the business specifically. So began a construction process that ended up with a grand opening in August of 2000. The company by then had grown from 2 employees to 10. Montana Propane is in fact the only locally owned and operated propane company in Helena and the surrounding areas.
